In this CME activity, M. Roy Wilson, MD, provides a general
overview of glaucoma, including basic science, risk factors,
incidence and prevalence data, and screening and diagnosis
methods. A differentiation between the types of glaucoma and
the most current treatment options are also examined.
Upon completion of the activity with an acceptable posttest
score, you will be able to download the presentation.

Donald L. Budenz, MD, discusses the many treatment options
for patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension in this
CME activity. Pharmacological and surgical treatment options
are examined, including the safety and efficacy profiles of
each. Dr. Budenz explores the rationale behind first-line
therapy choices, and considers issues that directly affect
the patient (eg, cost, convenience, quality of life). The
activity concludes with a discussion of an overall treatment
strategy for patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Upon completion of the activity with an acceptable posttest
score, you will be able to download the presentation.

In this CME activity, M. Roy Wilson, MD, covers the results
of recent major trials in glaucoma, including a discussion
of the clinical implications of each. The trials covered include
the Collaborative Normal-Tension Glaucoma Study, the Advanced
Glaucoma Intervention Study, the Collaborative Initial Glaucoma
Treatment Study, the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study,
and the Early Manifest Glaucoma Trial. Dr. Wilson examines
the results of the trials, individually and collectively,
to help the practicing ophthalmologist understand how these
data may affect treatment strategies for patients with glaucoma.
Upon completion of the activity with an acceptable posttest
score, you will be able to download the presentation.

This CME activity contains the October 2002 AAO satellite
symposium "Recent Advances in Glaucoma: Results from
the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS)." It examines
the background, rationale, and study design, as well as results
and examples of endpoints of the OHTS. It contains a discussion
of risk factors for glaucoma, including central corneal thickness,
a factor first revealed by the OHTS. It also includes an analysis
of how the findings of the OHTS compare with the results of
other recent clinical trials on glaucoma, to provide a context
for practicing ophthalmologists. This activity is led by 5
prominent ophthalmologists who were key investigators in the
trial or involved in the review of the OHTS 5-year results.
Upon completion of the activity with an acceptable posttest
score, you will be able to download the presentation, as well
as a .pdf of the question and answer session that took place
at the symposium.
